(walking tour) – the Old City represents much more than an entertainment hub. Before the communist era, it was the commercial heart of Bucharest, hosting large banks and strategic companies that shaped the economic life of the country, as well as small boutiques, fancy stores or antiques shops.

(walking tour) — the place encompasses the city’s most relevant periods in the past two hundred years: the one dominated by royalty and the one under the grey auspices of communism. You will admire several iconic buildings of the city such as the Romanian Athenaeum or the former Royal Palace. You will also see the balcony where dictator Ceausescu held his last speech before his removal from the country’s leadership in 1989.

  • (visiting the interior) OR Village Museum (visiting)

Cotroceni Museum is the former Royal Palace and the only official residence in Romania that has been used for over four centuries. It bears the unmistakable creative mark of Queen Mary, the most loved queen of Romania.

Village Museum is an open-air museum that accommodates a large collection of authentic peasant houses brought to Bucharest piece by piece from all Romania’s regions.
